Imagine having deeper connections with LGBTQ members in a small area
Developing friendships right where you live is easier thanks to the Highland Lakes Equality Center, its leaders and volunteers who are committed to creating those opportunities.
How it works and what to expect
The Highland Lakes Equality Center’s primary function is to help LGBTQ people, their family members, friends and community deepen their relationships by hosting social events and through education. HLEC leaders believe those two methods are the best ways to accomplish those objectives.
What we do
The Highland Lakes Equality Center exists to build connections between LGBTQ members, their allies and those who love them and want to better understand their struggles and why and how they have embraced their truths. The HLEC does this through events such as its prom, mixers, mingles, support groups, educational seminars and a list of resources that includes ministers, attorneys, counselors, therapists and other professionals.
About
Various conversations, one-on-one meetings, several lunches and even a few potlucks brought the original leaders to the start of the Highland Lakes Equality Center, which began in earnest in summer 2017. They expressed a deep desire to serve those who feel unloved, unworthy and forgotten. So they made a commitment to meet and invite people to be a part.
